Spaghetti smoky tomato & seafood sauce

Chilli, fennel seeds and smoked paprika add warmth and flavour to a rich tomato sauce, served with seafood in this quick pasta dish.

  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves crushed
  • 1 red chilli de-seeded and sliced
  • 1.5 tsp fennel seeds
  • 400 gram Spaghetti
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 (400) grams cans chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 400 gram packed seafood frozen and mixed cooked
  • small bunch of parsley or basil chopped


  1. Boil water in the kettle and heat up the olive oil into a large frying pan. Add chilli, fennel seeds, and garlic and sizzle it for few minutes. Now pour the boiling water into the large pan and then cook the pasta according to the instructions which are given on the pack.
  2. Now add paprika, tomatoes and sugar and then season the pan and simmer it for few minutes about 8-10 minutes. While pasta cook.
  3. Before the end drain the pasta for 1 minute. Reserve the cup of water and add pasta to the sauce with seafood and simmer it for 1-2 minutes. Now add the splash of reserved pasta water if it looks to thick. As it cooks toss the pasta through the sauce. Now add herbs and black pepper and serve.
